Celebrate National Farmer’s Day on October 12

National Farmer’s Day is coming up on Thursday, October 12. It is a day to pay tribute to all the farmers throughout American history — which is a lot of farmers—as farming is one of the oldest jobs around!

The profession of farming began around 12,000 years ago with the domestication of livestock  as hunter/gatherers settled down to plan their own food. Out of agriculture, cities and civilizations grew, and because crops and animals could be farmed to meet demand, the global population skyrocketed!

Farming still plays a critical role in our society and economy. In addition to providing food and raw material, agriculture provides employment opportunities, contributes to national revenue, ensures food security, and much more!

The Colorado Agricultural Marketing Cooperative (CAMC) is dedicated to supporting local growers by providing opportunities for them to market their goods, promote local production of commodities, and to serve as a model for other communities. When you shop at one the Fort Collins-Loveland Farmers Markets, you are supporting local farmers and vendors!

Celebrate #NationalFarmersDay by joining us at one of the remaining markets of the 2017!
